Citing thriving job centers and attractions, along with a dearth of new apartments nearby, developers are moving forward with another sizable residential project that's set to bring hundreds of living options to a south metro county.
National multifamily developer Thompson Thrift today announced plans to develop Wrenly, a 214-unit multifamily venture, near Interstate 85 and shopping hubs in Newnan.
Plans call for Wrenly to rise as six buildings across nearly 29 wooded acres at the northeast corner of Newnan Crossing Boulevard and Newnan Crossing Court, a site about 26 miles southwest of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The Newnan Crossing shopping center, anchored by Lowe’s and a Walmart Supercenter, is located across the street.
Developers say the one, two, and three-bedroom apartments will average about 1,000 square feet, with onsite perks that include a pickleball court, dog park, pet spa, a 24-hour gym, and a swimming pool with an integrated waterfall, among other amenities.
Thompson Thrift officials call the Newnan market a wise bet, given strong recent population and job growth that’s triggered a housing shortage.
According to the development firm, Coweta County over the past decade has logged limited multifamily deliveries—just 1.4 percent of all deliveries of such projects across metro Atlanta; population growth, meanwhile, has been greater than 21 percent over the past 15 years and is forecasted to grow nearly 6 percent more over the next five years.

Major employers near the Wrenly site include the expanding Piedmont Newnan Hospital, Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Yamaha Motor Manufacturing, and an Amazon distribution center, among others, per the developer.
The $200-million U.S. Soccer National Training Center that’s entering the home stretch of construction near Trilith, with expectations of creating another 400 jobs, was also cited as a perk of the southside location.
“Coweta County’s entitlement process is grounded in thoughtful planning and community priorities, and we’re honored that our collaborative approach earned the trust and support needed to move this development forward,” said Josh Purvis, Thompson Thrift Residential’s managing partner, in today’s announcement.
“[Wrenly will] deliver high-quality, luxury housing,” Purvis continued, “that supports the continued growth and momentum of the Newnan community.”
Thompson Thrift officials say Wrenly will welcome initial residents in April 2027. Construction is scheduled to fully wrap in early 2028.
The project joins an increasing number of large developments—including megaprojects that would consume hundreds of acres and big bets from seasoned intown companies—in less densely populated sections of south metro Atlanta.
Elsewhere in Newnan, national homebuilder Del Webb broke ground in October on Del Webb Southern Oaks, a project set to deliver more than 950 homes around a lake not far from the Wrenly site. Another project in the city, Cresswind at Spring Haven, is expected to eventually see in the ballpark of 700 homes.
On the flipside of metro Atlanta, Thompson Thrift is also building a luxury residential development in Buford called Autry at Tulip Grove that will claim 10 acres near the Mall of Georgia. That’s scheduled to deliver in January 2027.
Thompson Thrift was founded in 1986 and counts offices today in Indianapolis and Terre Haute, Ind., Denver, Houston, and Phoenix.
