Another metro Atlanta golf course has made way for housing.

A multifamily community called Caledon on Club has begun pre-leasing for spring move-ins at a 33-acre site that used to be part of the oldest country club in Gwinnett County, Northwoods Country Club Golf Course, according to project officials.

The 352-unit venture is located at 3355 Club Drive in Lawrenceville, just southeast of Interstate 85 and Gwinnett Place Mall. Atlanta-based multifamily firm Oxford Properties developed Celadon on Club and has brought on RAM Partners to manage it.

The project is said to be inspired by the circa-1959 country club it partially replaced (the 220-acre club closed in 2019, leaving some longtime members feeling “betrayed.”) The amenities clubhouse aims to mimic—well, an actual country club house. A TrackMan golf simulator is included for tenants. And acres of natural greenspace were preserved.

Ranging from one to three bedrooms, all 352 apartments are described as luxury, but leasing rates have yet to be made publicly available. The intent was to make the project “feel exclusive and inviting,” Paul Austin, Oxford Properties’ development partner for Georgia and Charlotte, said in an announcement.

The property also includes a pool described as “resort-style,” workout facilities, and leasable private offices. An added perk, per developers, is a trail that connects the apartments to 25-acre Club Drive Park, which has a fishing lake, basketball courts, and a playground. (A project rep says photography for Celadon on Club isn’t yet available, but more renderings can be found in the gallery above.)

It’s not the first time in recent years that metro developers have targeted OTP golf courses for entirely different uses.

The Homestead at Milton project emerged in 2021 with a goal of transforming Alpharetta’s decades-old Trophy Club of Atlanta golf course into estates with sprawling lots, each with between 4 and 10 acres. Those properties now start at $4 million.
