For the second time in as many weeks, another facet of Phipps Plaza’s remade, northernmost section has officially debuted where a big-box retailer once stood.
Up from the ashes of Belk, Life Time Buckhead at Phipps Plaza—the seventh Life Time location across metro Atlanta—opened today as the newest anchor for an upscale mall that’s been adding a broader mix of uses to its property for years.
As gyms go, the new Buckhead Life Time is a whopper: the five-story “athletic country club” offers a vast workout area, a full spa, a section for athletes called LT Recovery, a fitness and learning academy for kids, an area for seniors, and what’s described as a beach club on the roof with two pools and a café.
With its views across Buckhead’s skyline, the rooftop component is considered a first for Atlanta fitness centers, per Life Time officials.
Memberships start at $259 monthly, with a $200 joining fee.
Beyond the athletic club, the 115,000-square-foot building offers Life Time Work, or what’s described as a “premium coworking experience.” Members of the coworking offices will have access to the fitness portion, which helps explain the starting membership price of $519 monthly for access to open-plan workspaces.
Located on the north side of Phipps Plaza along Phipps Boulevard, Life Time joins a new central greenspace and two more mid-rise buildings in Belk’s footprint: 13-story One Phipps Plaza offices and the Nobu hotel and restaurant that opened last week.
Hoof up to the gallery and have a look around, without breaking a sweat.
