The people have spoken, and Urbanize's inaugural Best Atlanta Neighborhood tourney is about to begin!
As part of ongoing Best of Atlanta 2021 coverage, which spotlights the latest and greatest in our city's built environment, the time has come to start the most important quest of all: Crowning Atlanta's top neighborhood of the year, as determined by whatever criteria you see fit.
To determine seeding, we asked for neighborhood nominations last week—and dozens of votes flooded in, from Adair Park to Decatur and beyond. Twenty-two places earned nods overall.
Summerhill took pole position with the most nominations of any neighborhood, followed by Grant Park, Mozley Park, and Midtown.
And then—everyone basically tied. We took neighborhoods with a couple of nominations, and then those with one, and drew separately from a hat to determined seeds five to 16.
From this Sweet 16, the winning Atlanta neighborhood will receive the gift of showing an entire city that it truly cares. And just maybe a special surprise.
So get your neighborhood pride ready, ATL. First round of competition begins tomorrow!
