After more than 1,000 votes and several shocking upsets, Round 1 voting for the (Sub)urban Smackdown 2025 tournament is in the books.

Which means there’s 32 great ITP and OTP places left standing, ranging from Atlanta’s oldest historic neighborhoods to red-hot, built-from-scratch communities growing larger by the day.

Here’s a look at the remaining field:

And now a quick primer on how this works:

  1. Last week, we listed in alphabetical order 32 of the most populous and internet-searched places in suburban Atlanta. Ditto for 32 of Atlanta’s most historic, popular, and interesting neighborhoods.
  2. Please cast a vote for whichever city, neighborhood, or master-planned development you think is the best right now, whatever that means to you.
  3. The top vote-getter in each pairing will move on to the next round. In the event of a tie, the competitor that comes first in alphabetical order will advance. (We made an exception in the case of Milton in Round 1, because nobody voted for its competitor, Home Park, and suburban entries were eliminated in all other ties in that round by alphabetical coincidence.)
  4. Voting in this second round of the Metro Atlanta Big Dance will close Monday at 1 p.m. sharp!

Please, take a second and cast a vote below.

Now, let the eliminations commence
