Officials in one of Georgia’s largest cities recently inked a deal to build a multipurpose facility described as a “transformational investment” in wellness, recreation, and community connection southwest of Atlanta.
The South Fulton City Council last month approved a design-build contract with Headley Construction Corporation to develop a new Cedar Grove Park Community Building, a planned $14.2-million recreation hub at 7375 Rivertown Road.
The multifunctional facility—an anchor of a broader parks project that includes a dog park and nature trails—is designed to benefit residents of all ages and support future city growth, per government officials.

Flexible spaces will house health and fitness programming, special events, community meetings, education, and other purposes. Renderings provided by South Fulton officials show indoor pickleball, coworking space, dining rooms, and other components at the 4,000-square-foot facility.
The city council approved $17 million for the parks project in early 2025, noting it marked the first new rec facility since the city’s founding at the time.
The recent approval officially kicked off the project’s design phase.
“This building is designed to serve as a lasting symbol of investment, opportunity, and neighborhood pride for generations to come and will fulfill a longstanding commitment to our residents,” said District 4 Councilmember Jaceey Sebastian in an announcement. “I’m proud to support this transformational investment.”
Incorporated in 2017 at the southern edge of metro Atlanta, South Fulton spans more than 90 square miles and counts a population of more than 115,000 residents, constituting “one of Georgia’s largest and fastest-growing municipalities,” per city officials.
