Developers are celebrating the topping out of what’s been called one of America’s most luxurious, stacked senior living communities—and one of metro Atlanta’s largest.

Dallas-based healthcare real estate firm Caddis is building an 18-story project at 2051 Peachtree Road NE called Heartis Buckhead to capitalize on access to nearby restaurants, shopping, and hospital facilities.

The 278,000-square-foot building overlooks the former Darlington apartment complex, currently being redeveloped as upscale lofts, lending the feel of a complete remake for blocks neighboring a future BeltLine corridor.

Situated where Peachtree meets Peachtree Valley Road, across the street from the Shepherd Center, the Heartis project also entails the renovation of an adjacent, 10-story medical office building.

When the 213-unit venture was announced in early 2019, then-Caddis CEO Jason L. Signor predicted the company’s first luxury senior high-rise “will be one of the most sumptuous in the country.” (Lance M. Hardenburg has since replaced Signor as CEO.) At the time, Caddis had opened or was constructing 19 Heartis communities in five states.

Units in Buckhead will range from studios of 600 square feet up to nearly 1,600-square-foot two-bedrooms, per the community’s website. Amenities will include a game room, chef-prepared meals, beauty parlor and barber shop, and landscaped common areas.

A topping-out ceremony was held at Heartis Buckhead the last week in May, and the building is expected to open early next year. Have a closer look in the above gallery.
