A new Westside affordable housing complex has completed construction with a mission to help Atlanta seniors continue to live in their hometown, project officials announced today.
Called True Light Haven, the 124-unit apartment venture broke ground on a 4.2-acre site last year in the Penelope Neighbors neighborhood, just north of Interstate 20 and west of downtown.
The four-story building’s location, as officials with contractor McShane Construction Company point out, is less than a mile from the BeltLine’s Westside Trail and much closer to the West Lake MARTA station. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is about three miles east.
Developed by National Church Residences, the one and two-bedroom flats are reserved for renters age 55 and up, designed with “maximum independence” in mind.
Building amenities include a fitness room, a business center with Wi-Fi, a lounge on each floor, and a community room with kitchenette.
The building is also designed to achieve National Green Building Standard’s Gold certification. Foley Design was the architect of record.
All units are considered affordable housing, though rent prices aren’t specified in marketing materials.
The complex “includes a wide array of amenities and is in close proximity to a number of other conveniences,” said McShane’s vice president and regional manager, Scott Hoppa, in today's announcement. “[It’s] ideal for Atlanta seniors who want the benefits that an independent senior living residence provides, while being able to remain in their neighborhood."
