A Microsoft-backed project described as a recreational, greenspace win for a southside city is days from its official debut.
City of East Point officials and project partners Microsoft have scheduled a Nov. 12 ribbon-cutting celebration for the Ben Hill Road Pocket Park, a multifaceted greenspace spanning three-quarters of an acre west of Atlanta’s airport, near Camp Creek Marketplace.
With its pickleball court and walking pathways, the 4165 Ben Hill Road pocket park is being called “another positive step” for the City of East Point, next to Microsoft’s data center project.
The pocket park officially broke ground in December.
Beyond pickleball, site plans indicate various zones of the greenspace will feature a nature trail, a screen structure for community movie nights, local art and sculptures, a STEM-themed interactive wall, a pollinator garden, bike racks, open lawns, and other features.
The cost of the greenspace initiative—and how much of that Microsoft is covering—hasn’t been disclosed.
We've asked a city spokesperson for additional details and will update this story should those come.

According to East Point officials, the pocket park was specifically designed to boost community engagement, connectivity, and outdoor options.
“This collaborative effort,” reads a city announcement, “reflects a shared commitment to strengthening neighborhoods, expanding recreational opportunities, and investing in spaces that bring people together.”
