What’s the wiser philosophy? The traditional, “Drive until you qualify,” or an alternative we just made up: “Stay put and save up.”
Debatable, but a new project by veteran Atlanta homebuilder John Wieland is testing the limits of the notion that suburban/exurban housing becomes less expensive the farther it is from a city’s core.
The mixed-use development called Laurel View by JW Collection—Wieland’s legacy homebuilding business—popped bubbly this week for its official grand opening at 3710 Mathis Airport Parkway in Forsyth County, about 35 miles north of downtown Atlanta.
Builders describe the gated locale as one of “South Forsyth’s most desirable corridors.”
According to project reps, 13 homes and eight commercial spaces have sold to date at Laurel View, leaving just two retail slots available.
Totaling 15,000 square feet, the suites are described as a rare chance for businesses “to own commercial space in a thriving, high-income community setting,” with layouts geared toward boutique retail, wellness, or professional offices.
Elsewhere, all told, the South Forsyth project calls for 78 townhomes, garden homes, and estate properties
Prices start at just shy of $1 million for four-story, four-bedroom townhomes in about 3,500 square feet, each with elevators, three-car garages, and finished base levels, plus perks such as JennAir appliance packages.
The priciest option currently listed, a 6,067-square-foot sprawler called The Leverett, is asking $1.58 million. That buys six bedrooms and six and ½ bathrooms across three levels, with a three-car garage for keeping the golf cart.
Neighborhood amenities call for an open-air pavilion, a fire pit, and a central mail kiosk—but no pool.
In terms of location, perks include drivability to Halcyon and the expanded Suwanee Town Center, plus zoning for “some of Forsyth County’s highest-rated schools,” per JW Collection reps. Those include Brookwood Elementary, South Forsyth Middle School, and Lambert High School.
“The neighborhood,” said Wieland in a grand-opening announcement, “seamlessly blends timeless design with luxury residential and commercial elements for a true community-focused lifestyle.”
Swing up to the gallery for a closer look at how Laurel View’s coming together. No gas money required.
