Interstate 20 travelers east of downtown have likely noticed a new mid-rise building hanging off a bluff in Grant Park like a wood-clad version of Hogwarts.

The Glenwood Avenue project, situated just west of Glenwood Kroger, began vertical construction earlier this year and recently topped out at a half-dozen stories beneath a roofline with many gables.

We’re still working to figure out what the development actually is, which isn’t made easier by the holiday week. Property records indicate the formerly vacant 2.3 acres sold for $1.7 million in summer 2020 to an LLC called Enfold Glenwood.

The project stands adjacent to the hilltop GlenCastle complex, an adaptive-reuse of Atlanta’s historic, circa-1900 city jail by Urban Realty Partners completed in 2020.

GlenCastle now includes three structures (a stable and blacksmith shop were also converted) with 85,000 square feet of creative office space across 4 acres. According to Urban Realty Partners, GlenCastle was leased and stabilized earlier this year.

The Link townhomes and apartments by Charlotte-based Grubb Properties are also next door.
