Georgia Tech’s planned football stadium glow-up is coming into clearer focus.
First announced in fall 2024, a $500-million campaign called Full Steam Ahead is aiming to start work this year on upgraded facilities for Ramblin’ Wreck football fans, along with basketball and volleyball players.
For Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field, the transformation is set to include a massive videoboard at the south end, new clubs and a speakeasy, along with an array of deluxe suites.
Changes at the circa-1913 stadium—the oldest on-campus stadium in major college football—are designed to level up the gameday experience as Georgia Tech enjoys an era of renewed gridiron relevance.

Fresh renderings by Ewing Cole architects, a Philadelphia-based firm with offices in Atlanta, paint a clearer picture of what suites and revived stadium interiors will entail.
In north and south end zones, expect upgraded standard suites with 16 seats and amenities such as in-suite catering, a wet bar, and a dedicated suite attendant, according to Georgia Tech athletics.

On the stadium’s western side, facing Midtown, West Side Premium Suites also call for 16 seats but with elevated furniture and finishes and elevator access.
At the 50-yard line, also on the stadium’s western side, the 120-seat Foundation Club calls for a “statement bar,” a dedicated entry, private restrooms, premium food and beverages, and outdoor seating with “upscale padded chairback seats in a shaded setting with heaters for cooler weather,” per the university’s athletics department.
Within that club, a VIP space called the East Side Speakeasy will include all-inclusive food and drink in a setting described as posh and intimate.

Other upgrades call for a huge videoboard and upgraded sound system, plus chairback seating throughout the stadium (replacing today’s hard bleachers).
Beyond the football stadium, Full Steam Ahead's scope calls for O’Keefe Gym, home of Georgia Tech volleyball, to be modernized with a widened concourse and upgraded fan amenities.
For basketball, a tech-focused revamp of training hub Zelnak Basketball Center will see upgraded strength and conditioning and athletic training areas, new meeting and office spaces, and a new men’s basketball locker room (the women’s facility was redone a few years ago), per the university.
Construction schedules call for work on the Zelnak Center addition to start this spring, when the re-seating process at Bobby Dodd Stadium is also expected to kick off.
The bulk of renovations at Bobby Dodd Stadium are set to start sometime this fall. Plans call for all construction to finish at the stadium in fall 2027.
The sports facility plans are part of a $2-billion campus-wide initiative called Transforming Tomorrow: The Campaign for Georgia Tech and will join a growth spurt in other sections of campus.
An unrelated stadium expansion broke ground in early 2024 and is scheduled to deliver early this year.
