Two years after vertical construction began, an infill project adding dozens of homes near Brookhaven’s burgeoning commercial village is approaching sold-out status.

Townhome venture Empire MacKintosh—or “The Mack,” as it’s been nicknamed—counts four residences right now that haven’t been sold or put under contract. The project includes 53 townhomes total, all of them standing three stories. 

Saba Loghman, an advisor with Empire Homes (formerly Empire Communities), tells Urbanize Atlanta all four remaining townhomes are the Lyndon floorplan.

Those units count three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and two-car garages, with 1,490 square feet. The last new-construction prices range between $675,000 and $699,000. (Zillow pegs monthly HOA fees for the priciest unit at $345 monthly.)

Since breaking ground in 2024, Empire officials have said the goal with brick-clad MacKintosh townhomes is to provide buyers with more new-construction options in a pricey area, where even single-family “teardowns” are often financially out-of-reach. 

The City of Brookhaven counts about 60,000 residents right now—and 20 homes priced at $2 million or more.  

The Mack is situated along Apple Valley Road, just north of Brookhaven Village and the city’s MARTA station, across the street from the renovated industrial facilities that house Arnette’s Chop Shop steakhouse. It consumed 3.3 acres of vacant land and a small former lodge structure at 2580 Osborne Road.

The name is a nod to the Scottish Mackintosh style of architecture, a source of inspiration for the subtle curves and clean lines of Mackintosh exteriors, summarized as “old-world brownstone meets modern energy,” as Empire officials have said. 

The Mack marks the latest ITP development of many from Empire, a Canada-based homebuilder with projects dotted across the intown Atlanta landscape, from Chamblee and Reynoldstown to the doorstep of the Beltline’s Southside Trail.
