A neighborhood-scale Atlanta Beltline pitstop with a mix of uses is bound for a former carpet company showroom in Berkeley Park, according to developers.

Atlanta-based real estate firm The Atlantic Companies is in the process of remaking the former Myers Carpet building (1500 Northside Drive) into a retail-anchored destination along Northwest Trail—Segment 3, a new Beltline section that will link Northside Drive to Howell Mill Road when completed.

The 1956 building is part of a 2.7-acre property adjacent to Monday Night Brewing’s The Grove taproom and restaurant that opened last summer as another Beltline-adjacent point of interest.

The Atlantic Companies’ adaptive-reuse plans call for 10,500 square feet of food and beverage and retail space, plus 7,000 square feet of “high-impact showroom” areas and 3,700 square feet of flexible office space, as company officials announced Tuesday.

Plans call for a central breezeway to bisect the building, boosting site circulation and communal vibes while providing direct Beltline access to retail storefronts, per project leaders.

Records indicate The Atlantic Companies paid $11.2 million for the Northside Drive property in 2023. Development officials say they’ve worked in close coordination with the Beltline to integrate the Northwest Trail through the site.

Andy Johns of The Atlantic Companies said the 1500 Northside Drive project is drawing “inspiration from the strong response to The Grove” next door, and that the project “will create an approachable, neighborhood-scale retail experience along the Beltline to [complement] the communal spirit spawned by Monday Night Brewing.”

The Atlantic Companies has recently begun pre-leasing efforts, hiring SRS Real Estate Partners to handle retail and Capital Real Estate Group to lead office leasing.

The development team also includes Gensler (architect), Westbridge (development consultant), Kimley-Horn (civil engineer), and Peter Constructive (general contractor).

The Northwest Trail section neighboring the building in question and The Grove opened in August. More recently plans have come together for a bridge that would span roughly 260 feet and take the Beltline over busy Northside Drive nearby.

Beltline officials told Urbanize Atlanta in December the Northside Drive bridge—one of six in planning stages for the remaining northside trails—is scheduled to deliver in fall 2028.

Other sections of the Northwest Trail completing the Beltline loop and linking with the finished Westside Trail are on pace to deliver this year and next.

Atlantic Companies officials say the remake of 1500 Northside Drive is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2026. Find more context and visuals in the gallery above.
