The next adaptive-reuse pitstop for the Beltline’s 22-mile loop is officially a go in northwest Atlanta.
Atlanta-based real estate firm The Atlantic Companies has christened its mixed-use project at 1500 Northside Drive “The Berkeley”—a nod to the neighborhood, Berkeley Park—after kicking off construction last month.
The 1956 building in question, formerly home to Myers Carpet, is situated along the Beltline’s Northwest Trail—Segment 3, a partially opened, 1.2-mile section that will link together multiple neighborhoods (Ardmore, Berkeley Park, Brookwood, Collier Hills, and Loring Heights) and connect to the completed Northside Trail and Tanyard Creek Park in Buckhead.
Retail plans for The Berkeley will anchor the 2.7-acre property adjacent to Monday Night Brewing’s The Grove taproom and restaurant, which opened last year as another Beltline-adjacent point of interest.

Atlantic Companies’ plans call for roughly 21,400 square feet of commercial space, with the bulk of that reserved for retail, food and beverage, and showroom uses. About 4,000 square feet will be turned into creative office space, per the developer.
A design highlight calls for a covered breezeway with skylights that will bisect the building, creating a new common area off the Beltline that links to storefronts.
Development officials say The Berkeley overhaul will be completed in mid-2027, with the building’s original character juxtaposed with modernized commercial space.
“Together with The Grove and amplified by the Beltline,” said Atlantic Companies principal Andy Johns in today’s update, “The Berkeley will offer an approachable mix of retail concepts that reflects the character of this eclectic community and gives visitors a sense of discovery.”

Another dose of retail momentum in the area could come with the second location of Old Fourth Ward Asian-fusion restaurant Ruby Chow’s, which is planning to open next summer at 739 Trabert Ave., another Beltline-adjacent space just west of The Grove.
Meanwhile, on the other side of The Berkeley project, the one-mile Northwest Trail—Segment 3B is now fully under construction. The unique section will include a pedestrian bridge over Northside Drive and an elevated pathway under Interstate 75.
Records indicate The Atlantic Companies paid $11.2 million for the Northside Drive property in 2023. Development officials say they’ve worked closely with the Beltline to integrate the Northwest Trail through the site.

The Atlantic Companies has begun pre-leasing efforts at The Berkeley, hiring SRS Real Estate Partners to handle retail and Capital Real Estate Group to lead office leasing.
The development team also includes Gensler (architect), Westbridge (development consultant), Kimley-Horn (civil engineer), Peter Constructive (general contractor), and Good Company (branding consultant).
