Following earlier delays, the West Midtown outpost of a popular Atlanta Beltline restaurant and watering hole is days away from opening in a remade warehouse setting as a new facet of the Star Metals District.
Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall, which has operated with a sprawling patio on the Eastside Trail for more than a decade, is set to open Wednesday at 690 11th St. in the Marietta Street Artery neighborhood, according to an announcement on social media today.
Doors officially open at 3 p.m. Wednesday. That’ll be followed by what Ladybird Westside reps are calling a three-day-weekend celebration, with live music, Georgia Tech football (the campus is a few blocks away), local makers, and puppies for adoption.
Star Metals developer Allen Morris Company announced back in March 2025 that Ladybird’s second location had been signed to lease an adaptive-reuse remake of a 1-acre property in the shadow of the district’s luxury, 22-story Stella apartment tower.

Michael Lennox, CEO and founder of Ladybird’s owner Electric Hospitality, told the AJC the 8,000-square-foot concept has finalized a deal with owners of a next-door parking lot that will include 50 spaces. That will allow Ladybird to validate two hours of free parking for customers in a neighborhood where lack of inexpensive parking and traffic congestion were partially blamed for a scourge of restaurant closures.
Along with Ladybird, Electric Hospitality also owns Muchacho (which branched from the Eastside Trail to the doorstep of Georgia Tech too) and Electric Room events space.
Lennox also told the AJC a Ladybird entrance along 11th Street was designed to better accommodate ride-sharing services, with a widened sidewalk functioning as a roundabout of sorts.
Earlier plans had called for Ladybird to open in early June in hopes of capturing 2026 FIFA World Cup traffic.
Allen Morris officials have said Ladybird will operate for several years as a key attraction at the 3.3-acre Star Metals District. But long-term plans call for the property to be redeveloped as part of future growth phases.
