Almost three years after its official groundbreaking, the tallest new building in Atlanta since the early 1990s has reached every inch of its ultimate height.
New York City-based developer Rockefeller Group is wrapping up exterior work on the highest floors of 1072 West Peachtree, a 60-story mixed-use tower that’s claimed a prominent place on Midtown’s skyline from vantage points across the city.
According to Midtown Alliance, work to dismantle 1072 West Peachtree’s crane—a fixture over Midtown since 2023, and one of the subdistrict’s last active cranes right now—began this week.
Disassembly work will continue until Wednesday afternoon, with lane closures now underway. (The entirety of West Peachtree Street between 11th and 12th streets will be closed between April 10 and 15 to allow for crane removal, with northbound traffic diverted onto 11th Street around the tower’s block, per Midtown Alliance.)
We checked with Rockefeller reps this week to ensure that no more significant changes are planned to 1072 West Peachtree’s rooftop, now that the crane is being taken down, but had yet to hear back as of press time.

John Petricola, Rockefeller’s Southeast senior managing director, told Urbanize Atlanta following the tower’s formal topping-out in November that a parapet atop the project is meant to mask a two-story mechanical room for elevators on the roof.
How that component of the building is lighted at night is “going to be a big kind of reveal,” Petricola said at the time. “[W]e want to make sure [the building is] lit appropriately and a part of the skyline.”
The residential portion of the Rockefeller tower, dubbed Alina Atlanta, is slated to start leasing this spring. Rent prices have yet to be revealed.
The 749-foot-tall tower will count room for hundreds of new Midtown residents in 357 apartments, ranging from studios up to three-bedroom options in a unique pinwheel floorplan layout. According to designers TVS architects, most floors will be limited to just eight units total to maximize views.

Other aspects of the project include 6,300 square feet of street-level retail, 224,000 square feet of Class-A office space, stacked parking for 750 vehicles, and a “Sky Garden” section that will qualify as Midtown’s largest amenity deck, per officials.
