A popular rankings website is out with its “2026 Best Places to Live in America” list—and sections of intown Atlanta have claimed 20 percent of the Top 10.

Atlantic Station has taken the No. 1 spot in a rundown of more than 18,000 “best” neighborhoods across the U.S. by Niche.com, a Pittsburgh-based ranking and review platform with a special focus on U.S. schools and colleges.

Not far behind, Atlantic Station’s neighbor Midtown claimed the No. 6 position on Niche’s national list.

The U.S. rankings were based on public schools, cost of living, job opportunities, crime, and local amenities, pulling from FBI, U.S. Census, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, among other sources. Millions of “real reviews” for neighborhoods were also factored in, per Niche.

Of 11 categories graded by Niche, only cost of living (B-) and weather (B+) didn’t chart at A levels for Atlantic Station, according to Niche’s findings. (As with numerous high-ranking neighborhoods, "crime and safety" stats aren't listed.)

Upscale international magazine Travel + Leisure, as one example, has covered Niche’s ranking this week, though its writer notes of the tree-lined, master-planned community: “Few people have probably heard of Atlantic Station, Georgia.”

Along with its own zip code, the district counts a “dense urban” feel, where a slight majority (52 percent) of its 3,160 residents are homeowners, as opposed to renters, per Niche’s findings.

Of 125 neighborhoods in Atlanta ranked by Niche, Atlantic Station scored No. 1 for both the best place to live in general, and best for raising a family, with its top-rated schools and activities. It also charted high (No. 3) on a ranking of best neighborhoods for young professionals.

With just shy of 30,000 residents, No. 6 Midtown also notched an A+ overall Niche grade. The district’s only B-level grades came for housing (B), weather (B+), and cost of living (B-).

Midtown’s median home value has risen to $454,955 and median rent to $2,088 monthly, according to Niche.

Atlanta chalked up three more places in Niche’s top 50, all of them around Buckhead. Those are: Buckhead Forest (No. 33), Buckhead Village (No. 34), and Pine Hills (No. 41).
