The effort to remake Dunwoody’s former Perimeter Place shopping node into a hipper, more walkable city center recently marked a significant milestone.
Perimeter Place’s replacement, Ashford Lane, has opened its 70,000-square-foot central lawn to the public, bringing to Central Perimeter what Dunwoody officials describe as a “signature community gathering space for celebrations, outdoor dining, and music.”
Located at 4500 Olde Perimeter Way—just north of Perimeter Mall, between two MARTA stations—the open-container greenspace is officially called The Lawn at Ashford Lane. It’s part of a surge in recent development projects Dunwoody leaders say is in tune with the city’s Edge City 2.0 report, which was finalized and released in January.
“It’s an exciting time for Dunwoody with new retail and restaurants opening,” Michael Starling, the city’s economic development director, said in a prepared statement. “Hotels are filling up, and two major new mixed-use developments are under construction,” those being High Street’s nine-building first phase and the adaptive-reuse Campus 244.
JLL and CTO Realty Growth partnered in 2021 to retool Perimeter Place as the 269,000-square-foot retail and dining hub Ashford Lane, which has since opened a food hall. The Lawn is promoted as the social nucleus of the project, where everything from dance performances to fire-pit gatherings will be held.

Recent additions around The Lawn include the fifth Georgia location of chef Ford Fry’s Superica and, earlier this month, Hawkers Asian Street Food.
New York-based CAMP—described as “part toy store, part activity center”—is scheduled to make its Georgia debut near The Lawn sometime in June.
Another addition not involving food is a large-scale mural by artist Carrie W. Brown on the Ashford Lane parking deck. It’s described by Dunwoody officials as both “eye-catching” and “kaleidoscope-like.”
