An adaptive-reuse project is brewing that aims to continue an influx of investment and food-and-beverage offerings around Chamblee’s historic commercial core.
Called Chamblee Tap & Market, the concept by owners Jeff Kimmel and David Heymann was initially expected to open this spring but is now leaning toward a debut late this fall or in early 2024, project reps report this week.
Plans call for remaking furniture and antiques businesses at 3509 and 3515 Broad Street into a gathering place across the street from the new Chamblee City Hall, which recently claimed the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Georgia 2023 People’s Choice Award for best built project over 5,000 square feet. The future Chamblee Town Center is also expected to sprout nearby.
As designed by Vickers Design Group, plans for Chamblee Tap & Market call for a taproom with 20 varieties of beer and wine on draft, both local and unique out-of-market selections.
Elsewhere, developers have now brought on terra alma, a boutique real estate advisory firm, to curate offerings in what’s described as a micro food hall. What's that mean, in this case? Three food stalls and a pint-sized coffee shop.
Sidecar Coffee, which will occupy the smallest stall, will also serve small plates and bakery items.
A private event space is also in the works at Chamblee Tap & Market.
“The demand for places where people can relish outstanding food and revel in the company of good friends is soaring,” said terra alma founder Edie Weintraub in a project update today. “Chamblee provides the perfect canvas for this.”
