For anyone who’s ever found themselves uninspired (or worse) in Buckhead, wishing they had the power to improve Atlanta’s toniest subdistrict from public safety, city planning, or any other standpoint, you just might be in luck.

Livable Buckhead, a nonprofit booster organization, has launched its second-ever, community-wide survey to take Atlanta’s temperature on how Buckhead is doing when it comes to traffic, crime, general quality-of-life, and more.

Responses to the survey will help “provide direction for the development of future projects and initiatives” across a collection of neighborhoods with roughly 90,000 residents—or almost one-fifth of the City of Atlanta’s total population.

According to Livable Buckhead, all responses will remain anonymous, but they must be filed by a deadline of September 25.   

The agency led a similar survey in November 2020 and collected about 2,400 responses.

Common themes back then were that Buckhead remains an attractive, upscale place to live, work, visit, and dine, with strong schools and top-flight jobs—but crime issues, according to respondents, were a dark cloud that was very much top-of-mind.

Not coincidentally, the following year saw the rise of the controversial Buckhead City movement that proposed breaking away from Atlanta to become its own sovereign municipality—before state legislators put an end to those talks, at least for now, in January.

The new survey allows Atlantans to share their 2 cents on that very topic. Some sample questions:

  • Should Buckhead become its own city?
  • How satisfied are you with the current City of Atlanta administration?
  • What do you like about Buckhead? What could be better?
  • What are the most pressing issues facing the community?
  • What community improvements would you value most?

Livable Buckhead’s 2022 survey can be accessed here. Officials say it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete, and all respondents will be entered into a drawing for one of 10 Visa gift cards worth $50.
