It’s like Great Wolf Lodge—minus the roof and hefty lodging fees.

A water park attraction in Clayton County is set to open next month that officials call both accessible to everyone and special enough to be an international attraction.

A ribbon-cutting is planned May 19 for the Spivey Splash Water Park at Clayton International Park, a venue about a half-hour south of downtown Atlanta built for beach volleyball competitions during the 1996 Olympic Games. The facility opens to the public May 28, the beginning of Memorial Day Weekend.

Formerly known as The Beach (and closed since 2018 for upgrades), the water park is situated next to a six-acre, spring-fed lake.

The park’s list of features reads like a kiddo and preteen paradise.

Expect four large waterslides, a three-story Sky Trail adventure ropes course, a lazy river nearly 1,300-feet long that loops the property, a sports pool for all ages, and a splash pad, among other attractions. The property also counts one of two FlowRiders (think: a stationary wave structure for surfing) in Georgia, according to Clayton County Parks and Recreation.

Beyond the splashy stuff, the park’s newly remodeled areas include an events center, food truck area, outdoor gym, and a large balcony overlooking the waterpark. All projects were funded by Clayton’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST.

Spivey Splash entry costs will be $13 per day for anyone under four-feet tall (kids age 2 and under are free), and $15 for anyone taller. Season passes are $50 for Clayton County residents, or $75 for nonresidents.

The water park “can easily be a premier destination spot for people around the world to enjoy,” DeMont Davis, Clayton County District 4 Commissioner, said in a recent media release announcing the opening. “The extra time spent building and renovating this park was necessary to ensure the community is getting their one-cent sales tax worth. We want to reiterate that this park, along with all other parks and facilities, is for all Clayton County citizens and visitors to our county."
