The 56 total stories of Midtown Union, one of Atlanta’s most transformative high-rise developments in recent years, have nearly reached their apex.
MetLife Investment Management and Granite Properties broke ground on the three-building, Cooper Carry-designed project in December 2019. Since then, it's consumed a full city block.
Last winter, a 12-story Kimpton hotel topped out along West Peachtree Street, followed this summer by an 18-story residential component—atop eight levels of parking—on Spring Street.
The tallest facet, 26 stories of glass-wrapped offices on 17th Street, still has a couple of stories to climb, by our recent count. That 612,000-square-foot tower will house the global headquarters of investment management firm Invesco.
Work on each building’s façade continues, as a tree-lined boulevard that will bisect the property begins to take shape.
Midtown Union is rising on what largely functioned as a vast surface parking lot for years. Extended bike lanes are expected to wrap around the site, connecting existing lanes on Spring and West Peachtree streets, once construction finishes.
The Kimpton hotel is slated to offer 230 rooms, and the StreetLights Residential apartment building 350 rentals. Spread around the bases of buildings will be 32,000 square feet of retail, with more than 1,900 parking spaces stacked and wrapped throughout.
Project officials relayed earlier this summer that construction remains on schedule. That means each Midtown Union facet detailed in the above gallery is expected to deliver in the fourth quarter of 2022.
