To longtime consumers of news pertaining to the caviar of Atlanta’s high-rise real estate, this place probably looks familiar.
It’s a massive penthouse that spans more than 4,300 square feet atop Buckhead’s Terminus condo tower—with an outdoor terrace that dwarfs many intown yards.
It was finished in 2008, and the original owner was eccentric Music Midtown cofounder Peter Conlon, who paid $1.3 million. He sold the penthouse to former Atlanta Hawks All-Star point guard (and recently crowned NBA champion) Jeff Teague for $1.8 million in 2014.
Teague purged the place of its Parisian-brothel-meets-safari aesthetic and offloaded it two years later for $1.9 million.
Now, five years after that sale, Unit 3101 is back on market in drastically different form, sporting a Cantoni redesign and reconfiguration—and a price to reflect the renovation costs and market appreciation: $3.26 million, as listed this week with PalmerHouse Properties.
Like another sky-high flat in the same building once owned by Braves slugger Dan Uggla, this 31st-floor dwelling (now with a non-celebrity seller) has a ridiculously large outdoor terrace spanning 1,000 square feet.
That’s big enough for an outdoor kitchen, yoga zone, social area around a firepit, and enough leftover space to land a small helicopter.
As before, the three-bedroom unit (plus an office) includes direct elevator access, four bathrooms, three parking spaces, and sunrise-to-sunset views across Atlanta.
The redesign opened up spaces and generally made each wall and customized, multidimensional ceiling more interesting, while keeping the aesthetic sleekly restrained. Additions include a Gaggenau kitchen, living room fireplace, designer lighting, and custom wall treatments throughout.
The listing agent, PalmerHouse Properties cofounder and associate broker Tom Ellicott, has experience in recent big-ticket condo sales around Buckhead.
Earlier this month, Ellicott closed a $6.3-million penthouse sale at the Ritz-Carlton Residences and has put a $8.4-million penthouse under contract at the Graydon tower, which is entering the home stretch of construction farther south on Peachtree Road.
“I can say with confidence that, though luxury condos and penthouse sales were ‘on pause’ during Covid, they are back and for top dollar,” Ellicott tells Urbanize Atlanta. “The truth is that premier penthouse product is scarce and buyers don’t hesitate to snap them up. They are unique—and there are very few of them, particularly with oversized private outdoor spaces.”
Collectively, the Terminus unit is being marketed as “penthouse perfection.” See for yourself in the gallery above.
