With a proverbial light at the end of the pandemic's tunnel (possibly) in sight, and many workers trickling back into offices for the first time in years, the Atlanta Regional Commission wants to take stock of how personal commuting patterns have changed—or haven’t—around the city.
To accomplish that, the ARC wants to hear from you, via a quick online survey. The results could help shape mobility options in a rapidly growing region.
As the official planning agency for 11 counties and 74 cities, the ARC is trying to gain a perspective on its constituents’ new transportation habits and requirements in order to refresh the regional Transportation Demand Management Plan. (Based on our test run, the survey takes about three minutes to complete. It allows WFH devotees to have a voice, too.)
The update has a formal name: “Mobility Connections: A Plan for Expanding Opportunity.” Its goal is to help transportation agencies and governments, as well as ARC community and business partners, meet the changing mobility needs of metro Atlantans while reducing gridlock, improving air quality, and beefing up access to jobs and services, per ARC officials.
Working alongside the Georgia Department of Transportation, the ARC will administer the regional transportation plan for 20 counties spanning a vast swath of North Georgia.
“We must improve mobility options if we are to successfully build a more equitable region, improve public health, and create a stronger, more resilient economy,” said Roz Tucker, ARC’s managing director of mobility services, in a survey announcement last week. “We look forward to receiving and incorporating the feedback from our region’s residents into this TDM plan.”
