A year after it started coming out of the ground, the first residential component in the century-old Pratt Pullman District’s history is ready for its closeup.
Active intown developer Alliance Residential Company declared the Broadstone Pullman community officially open this week. The project has brought 354 rentals in three buildings to the southernmost edge of the former Pratt-Pullman Yard, a 27-acre complex with historically protected industrial buildings dating back to 1904.
Marketing tactics for the apartments, however, reflect the Pratt Pullman District’s more recent uses as a movie and TV production hub. The Hunger Games, Baby Driver, and TV series MacGyver, among other projects, have filmed at the property, and three soundstages (soundproof, officials say) wrapped with more apartments and retail are under construction next to the Broadstone Pullman apartments.
Having claimed about 5 acres off Rogers Street, Alliance’s new rentals were “designed with the movies in mind” and offer “the only community where you can live on location every day,” as the tag lines go. Which doesn’t exactly mean the lobby will be hosting auditions.
Instead, the Brock Hudgins Architects-designed project has touches like Marvel comic-themed décor in a communal kitchen, a leasing office with “statement amphitheater seating,” a two-story clubroom with wallpaper that features actress Shannon Tate, and director’s chair seating around a pool table and gaming area.
Elsewhere, the complex offers a saltwater pool described as “elevated [and] resort-style,” a fitness center, and rooftop lounge space with views across the budding creative district. (We’ve asked, but photos of amenities, unfortunately, aren’t available yet.)
Overall, the apartment project’s brick-and-steel aesthetic is meant to pay homage to the property’s industrial past. So what’s it cost to live there?
Studios with 514 square feet start at $1,460.
On the high end, the largest two-bedroom, two-bathroom rentals (1,213 square feet) range from $2,685 to $2,760 monthly.
“From its beginnings in 1904, to the years of dormancy, Pullman Yards has captured the imagination of artists and entertainers,” said Alliance Residential’s managing director Noah Randall said in an announcement this week. “Now, we’re making history as the first residential community here.”
Elsewhere in Atlanta, Alliance has most recently began a 278-unit apartment project off Memorial Drive near Oakland Cemetery.
Five other Alliance projects recently finished include Broadstone Summerhill (276 units), The Irby in Buckhead (277 luxury apartments), Broadstone Upper Westside (314 units), plus Broadstone communities near the town centers of Norcross and Sugar Hill in Gwinnett.
