UPDATE: Imagery in this story is in reference to renovations that have already been completed, a Crim and Associates representative clarifies. What's being sought now is a replacement for the former Emory at Kirkwood Obstetrics and Gynecology space along College Avenue.
A fresh face and more retail is planned for an eastside building one block from a MARTA station, according to a developer’s recent marketing materials.
Crim and Associates, a Sandy Springs-based commercial real estate and development firm, is planning to redevelop a one-story complex at 2199 College Avenue in Kirkwood. Available tenant spaces could be as small as 500 square feet or up to 7,500 square feet, surrounded by 47 surface parking spaces, according to a brochure.
“Within one mile you will find an average household income approaching $100,000 and a total of 770 businesses,” reads the pitch. “There are virtually no vacant retail spaces in the market.”
The building’s renovation will be “in keeping with the revitalization of this unique in-town neighborhood,” according to Crim and Associates. The existing floorplan has four suites totaling about 7,500 square feet.
The most recent tenants have included Emory at Kirkwood Obstetrics and Gynecology and Smugs Fitness. The building previously housed a supermarket and small engine repair shop, among other uses. East Lake MARTA station is about one block to the east, toward Decatur city limits and the Oakhurst Village.
Building permit records show no recent activity at the property. It was renovated with a more contemporary design several years ago.
We’ve reached out to Crim and Associates for info on when renovations might move forward and what the future may hold in terms of tenants. We’ll update this story with any additional details that come.
